We believe in coeducation. Boys and girls growing and learning together is the natural setting for today’s world. The primary years are the time when values associated with recognising and acknowledging the attributes and sensitivities of others are cultivated. We create an environment conducive to growth for pre-adolescent students.
Our students enjoy the full extension of their childhood, with all the fun, friendship-building, and emerging responsibilities that come with it. Much is gained by students through their exposure to learning opportunities beyond the school environment. At Toowoomba Anglican School, this is explored through inquiry and investigation, engagement with the community, and participation in a broad co-curricular and extracurricular program.
At Toowoomba Anglican School, we offer flexibility in providing opportunities for primary students to find success. Interests and talents can be nurtured for individuals in both academic and co-curricular arenas.
Students identified as gifted and talented are able to pursue learning areas through studies that focus on both the breadth and depth of the subject area. Teachers with expertise in these areas also offer extension programs beyond the year level to support students to remain engaged and excited about learning as they explore their gifts. Alternatively, differentiation both within the classroom and through intervention programs is available for students who may require additional support for their learning.
During the year, our students from Year 3 to Year 6 participate in our THRIVE Options Program. This program which is aligned to the Australian Curriculum General Capabilities, allows students to pursue interests as varied as cooking, art making, robotics, or advanced sports skills. Specialist sessions engage skilled experts in each area to instruct the children.
