Performing Arts 2021 External Auditions

2021 EXTERNAL AUDITIONS

Toowoomba Anglican School is the leading Performing Arts school in the Darling Downs and beyond. Our renowned and award winning Performing Arts Program has seen exceptional results at local, state, national and international levels.

The Performing Arts is a major component of student life at Toowoomba Anglican School. At the primary school level from Kindergarten to Year 6, the main goals are participation, commitment, skill building and enjoyment. As students progress through the secondary school, these attributes remain, with a greater emphasis on excellence and skill development.

TAS will be holding auditions for external students to secure a place in our Performing Arts Program in 2021. These auditions in the TAS choral/vocal, instrumental, dance and drama programs allow prospective students to meet our Performing Arts staff and discover how each student can benefit from our high performance pathways.

Choral/Voice

Choral/voice students will need to prepare two contrasting pieces which must be accompanied. Students should bring along sheet music for the accompanist.  TAS will provide an accompanist. Students will also be given aural tests and will be checked for vocal range.

If a student shows exceptional talent they may be asked to return in September to audition for the Chapel Choir for the following year. To gain entry into the Chapel Choir the student will need to fill in a Chapel Choir Application form, complete a Chapel Choir audition and undertake a one term probationary period in Term 4 of 2020 (depending on location and accessibility).

Instrumental

Instrumental students will need to prepare two contrasting pieces with or without accompaniment. If a student plays several instruments, the student should perform on their strongest instrument/s.  Students will also be given aural tests.

Drama

Drama students will need to prepare two contrasting pieces from memory. Students may be asked to read an unprepared item.

Dance

Dance students will need to prepare two short contrasting pieces and be prepared to do some exercises and floorwork. Please wear appropriate dance attire and bring appropriate footwear.

Our 2021 Performing Arts Auditions will be held on August 7 from 3:30pm. Please specify in the form comments if this date is not suitable for you.

Please note: Multi-Discipline Students are able to present a number of pieces to demonstrate their strongest area/s of ability. Please let us know if you will be auditioning in more than one area so that we can allow adequate time in the audition.
