Mr Simon Lees was appointed Head of Toowoomba Anglican school in January 2014. Simon leads teaching and learning by example and still teaches Geography to a Senior class. In 2019 he was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal Geographical Society for his services to the subject and curriculum area.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Lincoln, UK, Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Hull, UK, Master of Education (Leadership) from the University of Queensland and a National Professional Qualification for Headship as well as holding membership with the Fellowship of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG). Prior to this appointment, Simon was the Deputy Principal / Head of Senior School at St Paul's Anglican Grammar School, Gippsland, Victoria.
Previous to this role, Simon was the Head of Secondary School at Georgiana Molloy Anglican School Busselton Western Australia, and prior to that was Director of Extra-Curricular Activities at Guildford Grammar School in Perth. It was at this school he gained the experience of involvement in a well-established school with a large number of country boarders, who attended from a variety of locations such as the Western Australian Wheatbelt and the Kimberley.
Mr Lees was born in the United Kingdom and before arriving at Guildford Grammar School was Head of Faculty at The Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Prior to that he was Head of Faculty at Garden International School (an IB World School), a day and boarding international school in Thailand. His original teaching position in the UK was as a teacher of geography and PE at Sydney Smith School Yorkshire. Simon is a keen sportsman and particularly enjoys tennis and cycling. Simon and his wife, Meng, have three sons who are current TAS students.
